Meet #ASCENOGIRL Dee Omole (full name Adeola), the founder of our favourite independently run confectionary studio, Dee's Basement. At only 24 years old she has managed to showcase her creativity through the impressive business she has built.

So where did it all start?
Dee's Basement started during my final year of university in 2017. It was part of my final project on my entrepreneurship module and continued Dee's Basement after university.
What's your signature bake?
My signature bake has to be madeleines. They have been super popular since launching late last year. The mini bento box has also become a signature Dee's Basement bake.
What do you listen to when you bake?
My music taste is very varied and really depends on my mood. My go-to tends to be 60, 70, 80s music but it can go from musicals and Disney to gospel or bossa nova music.
When you're not baking what are you
most likely to be doing?
Watching movies!! I love movies and miss the cinema so much! Also I love looking for inspiration for my desserts so I'm always pinning images on Pinterest and I've recently got into gardening which has been very therapeutic.
What's next for Dee's Basement?
I have a kitchen based in East London which I moved into this year (kitchen tour coming soon). I'm going to continue to expand the postal menu. Also making plans to be stocked in cafes and shops across London to be ready to launch soon (lockdown dependent).
